
Dr. Joy Chu, a native of Beijing, China, graduated from College of Dentistry at Peking University. After practicing in Beijing as a general dentist for several years, she attended the College of Dentistry at the Ohio State University, where she studied the relationship between the stress and immune system functions and obtained her Ph.D degree from the Department of Oral Biology. She was awarded the OSU Alumni Graduate Research Award upon her graduation. Her post-doctoral training at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas was focused on wound healing in diabetic condition. She then moved back to Columbus, Ohio, to study in the Department of Orthodontics at the Ohio State University College of Dentistry, where she received three years extensive post-graduate training in orthodontics and performed molecular biology research on periodontal pathogens for her Master's degree in Dentistry. Since she graduated in the summer of 2001, Dr. Chu has been practicing orthodontics in Dallas area.
Dr. Chu is a Diplomat of American Board of Orthodontics. She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association and the International Association for Dental Research.
Married and the mother of two children, Dr. Chu enjoys playing with her children and spending time on their education.
Dr.John Cai, DDS, MS, MS, PhD
Dr. John Cai received his dental education from the College of Dentistry at Peking University in Beijing, China. Subsequently, he graduated from the Ohio State University with a PhD degree in biomaterials. He was an elected member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society during his study there. After receiving his PhD, Dr. Cai came to Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas to work as a post-doctoral researcher, and later became an Assistant Professor. He taught dental materials to dental students, dental hygiene students, and graduate residents. He had also mentored several graduate students on their thesis research. His research was focused on the cast titanium-ceramic systems for dental restoration. He was successful in obtaining research funding for his investigation from the NIH. In 2003, Dr. Cai entered the Graduate Orthodontics residency program at the Baylor College of Dentistry and graduated in February 2006. Currently, Dr. Cai is a part-time faculty member at Baylor College of Dentistry teaching graduate residents in Orthodontics and Prosthodontics.
Dr. Cai is a board certified orthodontist. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and International Association for Dental Research. He is a manuscript reviewer for several peer-reviewed dental scientific journals, including the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, Angle Orthodontist, Dental Materials, Biomaterials, and the Journal of Biomedical Materials Research.
