Orthodontic Diet
Food that cannot be cleaned off the braces may lead to discoloration and decay of your teeth. Even though our braces and wires are made of metal and ceramics, they are fragile and are usually damaged by eating the inappropriate foods. As the result, it will take us longer to finish our treatment. Following are some examples of the food that are inappropriate with your braces.

Sticky Foods: gum, caramels, carameled apples, toffee, Now and Later®, Sugar Daddies®, Sugar Babies®, Tootsie Rolls®, Starbursts®, Licorice, Gummy bears.

Hard Foods: nuts, ice, jerky, popcorn, pizza crusts, Doritos®, hard candy, hard pretzels, bagels, corn on the cob, apples and carrots (unless cooked or cut into small pieces).
Sugar Intake should be minimized during your orthodontic treatment. You are expected to eat much less candy, ice cream, cookies, cake, pies. Drink much less soda pop or any drink with sugar.

Avoid Chewing on Pens, Pencils, Fingernails.
